The Comptroller is accountable for planning, organizing, controlling and directing DSA’s daily, weekly, and monthly fiscal operations. The Comptroller will also be responsible for developing information and recommending policies and procedures for fiscal management and planning, as well as training and evaluating finance staff performance.

Starting Salary: $50,000 depending on education and experience.
RESPONSIBILITES
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to support staff and assist employees by problem-solving finance related issues and ensuring established policies and procedures are followed consistently throughout the District.
- Create, run, analyze, and review weekly, biweekly, monthly, and annual reports in a timely and accurate manner and maintain appropriate records.
- Compile and verify accuracy of various data, including but not limited to payroll, general ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, property records and special project reports.
- Provide training to the Finance department and District staff on procedures and related software.
- Prepare and maintain accounting schedules and account reconciliations for various projects and accounts as directed, utilizing advanced spreadsheet applications.
- Monitor project expenditures for accuracy and compliance in accordance with GAAP standards and state of Florida cost accounting requirements.
- Payroll responsibilities include reviewing timecards, applying cost allocations, calculating termination payouts, preparing payroll reports for executive staff, coordinating with campus staff to resolve timecard and/or payroll discrepancies.
- Perform additional duties specific to area(s) of assignment: Complete wage garnishments, overpayments, USEP updates, FC-1's, leave payouts, subpoenas, and employment verification requests.
- Account for fixed asset expenses which include balancing expenses with assets, ensuring assets are properly set up to account for depreciation, and creating journal entries to correct improperly coded assets.
- Create both simple and complex journal entries as needed to record transactions.
- Complete inter company transfers at the request of the Finance Director.
- Perform administrative functions related to the maintenance and upkeep of the accounting, purchasing, and payroll systems. Additionally, provide administration for ancillary services including but not limited to bank accounts, payment processors, credit cards, and vendor lines of credit.
- Assist with the completion of independent audits for finance reporting including worker’s compensation, 401k, and annual auditing pursuant to state and district requirements.
- Coordinate accounting of property records and the inventory-taking process.
- Coordinate and facilitate District and school bookkeeping functions.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger, bank accounts, and credit cards.
- Support the local, state, and federal grant process.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Balance various job responsibilities and duties with attention to detail.
- Provide backup within the department as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a background screening process by the District School Board of Pasco County, per Florida statute 1012.465 and 1012.56.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Experience in finance and accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Sound financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial planning, and cost management.
