The Modality Manager, Chromatography Resin is responsible for leading a team of Process Chromatography Sales Specialists while implementing technical and commercial strategies for Cytiva’s chromatography resin portfolio.  With regional teamwork and self-driven initiative, the candidate aligns with Bioprocess Chromatography Resin Modality Leader and regional Commercial Zone Leaders to cover market potential and achieve Operating plan that includes Sales, Orders and Market Share targets.

This position reports to the Modality Leader, Chromatography Resin and is part of the Bioprocess Department working remotely to cover Central and Western USA, Western Canada, and Puerto Rico.  

What you will do:

  • Lead team of Process Chromatography Sales Specialists within assigned geographical area while implementing technical and commercial strategy for Bioprocess chromatography resins.  Utilizing regional teamwork and self-driven initiative, the candidate will work in conjunction with Bioprocess Chromatography Resin Modality Leader and regional Commercial Zone Leaders to cover market potential and achieve Operating plan that includes Sales, Orders and Market Share targets.  Collaborate cross-functionally with peripheral Modalities across Cytiva, positioning solutions and ways of working to meet our customers’ complex needs while growing business.
  • Financial performance for assigned geographical region: Accountable to achieve quarterly and yearly Product Operating Plan targets (Orders, Sales, Contribution Margin, Base Costs and Operating Margin). Provide timely and accurate forecasting of pipeline, orders, and sales per the normal reporting cycles within the product Business Unit.  Contribute to the formulation of yearly business planning cycles for the product Business Unit.  Responsible for understanding and analyzing market dynamics and competition along with gaining extended market intelligence and customer pipelines to uncover additional step share and revenue opportunities. 
  • Coach and assist team regarding the differentiation of product offerings and solutions throughout various stages of the sales process to actively support the customer through the decision-making process and towards a successful outcome.  Ensure continuous development of deep scientific, technical and product knowledge across the territory of direct reports and peripheral account managers.
  • Provide leadership on chromatography products through knowledge and understanding of customers’ needs, Cytiva products, chromatography applications, sales support and differentiation from competitor portfolios.  Continuous learning and understanding of the customers changing technical and/or operational issues and challenges is critical for this role.
  • Attract, retain, coach and develop world-class commercial and technical talent to realize product commercial strategy.  Drive performance management, providing regular operating mechanisms of feedback and coaching.  Continuously develop networks of key technical decision makers both internally and with customers.

Who you are

  • 2+ years progressive leadership experience with direct reports. 3+ years of progressive responsibility post-graduate experience: Research Scientist, Process Development Scientist, Chromatography Specialist, or Field Application/Technical Specialist is acceptable.
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of the Biopharma/Biotech industry with high level, working knowledge of Downstream unit operations and purification.
  • Team oriented relational leader with good communication skills and an ability to resolve complex problems with a customer satisfaction mindset. Solid problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex problems, communicate issues and propose solutions to both external customers and internal team members.
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration and influencing skills with proven ability to drive and manage change initiatives in a matrixed environment.
  • High level presentation skills and able to present and communicate complex ideas to colleagues and customers to positively impact understanding and influence internal/ external relationships.
  • Willingness to travel within geographic region as well as to periodic national and international travel for meetings.  To the extent you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a Cytiva owned/leased, privately owned/leased or rental vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Chromatography process development/engineering
  • Purification of biotherapeutics (antibodies, proteins, viral vectors, ADCs)

The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $150,000 - $174,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
