About the Role:
As an Underwriting Associate 1, you will be the primary point of contact for policyholders, providing essential phone support and addressing general underwriting-related inquiries.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to gain experience in underwriting, policy servicing, and customer support. You will be responsible for responding to inbound inquiries promptly and efficiently, ensuring first-call resolution whenever possible, and upholding high-quality service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist policyholders with policy details, billing inquiries, endorsements, and general coverage questions.
- Support policy renewals by providing clear explanations and guidance to policyholders.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in all underwriting and policy-related communications.
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of underwriting, billing, and customer retention.
- Develop proficiency in Cover Whale’s knowledge base, binding, billing, cancellation, and reinstatement processes.
- Ensure quality responses that deepen policyholder relationships and minimize the need for follow-up inquiries.
- Work closely with the Cancellation and Billing teams to ensure smooth handling of policyholders’ needs.
- Desired: at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 1+ years of insurance experience required, preferably in underwriting or policy servicing.
- Strong customer service and phone communication skills, with experience handling complex insurance inquiries.
- Proficiency in business applications like Zendesk, HubSpot, Slack, and Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Spanish fluency is a bonus but not required.
Compensation:
The Expected base pay for the role will range from $62000-$68000 per year at the commencement of employment.
However, base pay will be determined on an individualized basis, including geographical location within the US, experience, and is only part of the total compensation package, which also includes discretionary bonus and other Cover Whale-sponsored benefits.
