We are looking for a dynamic Senior Instructional Systems Designer (Sr. ISD) to join our team. The Sr. ISD Specialist will support the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of assigned instruction and training materials packages, including but not limited to slide presentations, classroom activities, worksheets/handouts, and instructor and participant guides. Under the supervision of a Lead Instructional Systems Designer (LISD), this individual contributor role has responsibility for the end-to-end creation and periodic maintenance of training courses for transitioning Service members, Veterans, and their families about the benefits and services available from VA. The Senior ISD will work with all training modalities, which include traditional and virtual classroom synchronous instructor-led training (ILT and vILT) and asynchronous web-based training (WBT).

 Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, and maintain new Section 508-compliant instruction and training materials packages (ILT, vILT, and WBT), including but not limited to slide presentations, classroom activities, worksheets/handouts, job aids, storyboards, Articulate Storyline 360 files, Microsoft Teams and Adobe Connect vILT classrooms, and instructor and participant guides
  • Apply adult learning principles to the design and development of all curricular products (e.g., Mayer’s multimedia principles, Gagne’s nine events, Kirkpatrick evaluation, etc.) within the ADDIE model of instructional design
  • Ensure alignment of style, branding, enabling and terminal learning objectives, knowledge checks, and intermediate activities across multiple curricular products for a consistent product suite
  • Track curricular feedback (subject matter experts (SMEs), policy changes, etc.) relevant to assigned courses, including identification and tracking of items that may impact one or more deliverables, modalities, or even courses (cross-walking)
  • Cross-collaboration with supervisor and peers to ensure inter-modal alignment of all course content and relevant stylistic elements
  • Proactively track and communicate project status with the supervisor, including potential mitigation strategies for when risks jeopardize deliverable timelines
  • Deliver all final deliverables and intermediate builds on time and accurately
  • Attend internal coordination meetings regularly and client meetings as needed to present relevant updates in a factual, concise manner

 Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required
  • Master’s degree (MA/MS) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience providing instructional design expertise, including analysis, design, and ILT, vILT, and WBT development
  • Minimum 3 years of experience creating adult-learning content for a government contract or in a corporate environment
  • Able to obtain a minimum of NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries) for a Veterans Affairs Public Trust Clearance

 Skills

  • Significant experience with Web-Based Training design
  • Manages details in deliverable production, customer interaction, and action tracking
  • Communicates with others in an effective and polite manner
  • Assumes ownership and responsibility for assigned actions and/or tasks
  • Deep knowledge and experience with adult learning, objective creation, and curriculum writing
  • Expert in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient with project management applications, such as Asana, SmartSheets, etc.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud suite
  • Proficient in the development of synchronous virtual learning (vILT) training materials within vILT platforms, such as Adobe Connect and Microsoft Teams
  • Proficient in the use of asynchronous (WBT) authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline 360
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
  • Works well with tight deadlines and adaptable to evolving priorities
  • Dynamic team player who is a flexible self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrates empathy while ensuring that stakeholder requirements are consistently met
  • DoD and VA experience as a contractor or otherwise  
  • Highly desired: Former military experience

The annual salary range for this role is $80,000- $100,000. Please note that the salary information provided is a general guideline. CATHEXIS considers various factors in its final offer, including location, qualifications, experience, and skills.
