The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Planner Technician in our Bulk Berth Maintenance Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
Located right on the waterfront at BlueScope’s bulk berth, this role offers the perfect combination of stunning views and an ergonomic office environment.
This is a hands-on and dynamic position in a critical area of the business. With our shipping schedule driving daily operations, agility in planning and responsiveness is key. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and longevity of our bulk materials handling equipment by planning maintenance activities, inspecting assets, and contributing to the development of maintenance strategies that support safe and efficient operation of our plant.
What Will You Do?
You’ll provide technical guidance and drive the continuous improvement of the performance and reliability of our equipment, including:
- monitoring and reporting the condition of assets.
- undertaking inspection and maintenance tasks such as - isolation of equipment, inspecting quality critical equipment, root cause analysis, completing audits, fault finding / diagnostics and fixing any non-conformances.
- scheduling and providing detailed planning of maintenance work.
- capturing maintenance history and contributing to the continuous improvement of asset strategies.
- provide supervision to internal and external stakeholders.
More About You
As an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, you quickly adapt and have an eagerness to learn. With your technical skills and experience in maintenance of equipment in continuous production facilities, you will also bring:
- either a mechanical trade qualification with a strong background in planning, or a mechanical engineering qualification with a willingness to undertake hands on applications.
- experience in planning and scheduling inspections and maintenance of site equipment.
- experience in determining root cause through investigation processes and tools to recommend informed corrective measures.
- highly developed communication and influencing skills - building constructive and effective relationships.
- knowledge of the MS Office suite, and SAP will be highly regarded but not essential.
- a good head for heights, as you’ll be working on cranes and ship unloaders up to 50 metres high.
