Full-Time, Exempt 

Shift: 1st (Monday through Thursday 7am-4:30pm, Friday 7am-11am)


Job Summary: The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems and processes to ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines within an electronics contract manufacturing environment. This role focuses on PCBA (printed circuit board assembly), box build, and final product testing processes.


Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO 13485, IPC-A-610, and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Review customer specifications and translate quality requirements into manufacturing processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues.
  • Monitor and analyze quality metrics (yield, DPPM, rework rates) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct audits (internal, process, and supplier) and support external audits (ISO, customer).
  • Work with production, engineering, and supply chain to address quality concerns and support NPI (new product introduction).
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation (control plans, FMEAs, inspection plans, work instructions).
  • Investigate and respond to customer complaints and RMAs, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
  • Support first article inspections (FAI), incoming inspections, and final inspections.
  • Responsible for various quality-related training classes to educate employees on quality topics.
  • Provide quality data for quality and manufacturing departments.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures and reporting any safety concerns.
  • Actively participate in quality efforts and support the Virtex Quality Policy through accountable action.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (Electrical or Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience in quality engineering within electronics manufacturing or a similar environment.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environment (i.e., ISO9001, AS9100, ISO 13485) and AS9100 interpretation and application for manufacturing. 
  • Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies: 8D, FMEA, SPC, CAPA.
  • Proficient with MS Office and QMS systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communications skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret production and quality documents, drawings, component specifications and related industry materials.
  • Solutions-oriented problem solver & ability to multitask.
  • Excellent planning, communication and organizational skills.
  • Hands on Experience in SMT/Through Hole circuit board assembly production, engineering or quality assurance, preferred. Experience with cable/wire harness assembly a plus!

  • Must be able to walk for long distances throughout the production and office areas.
