Job Description
This position is responsible for the development and management of the Public Relations, Social Media, Corporate Social Responsibility & Partnerships for the Fairmont Austin.
Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge and skill in all aspects of marketing, PR and Social Media functions
- Ability to implement marketing strategies to drive revenue
- Development of marketing and promotional collateral
- Proficiently leads the Marketing team to use appropriate forms of communication media to consistently deliver the Fairmont Austin stories and messages to its consumers globally
- Oversees all day-to-day Marketing Department operations
- Implement corporate policies and procedures, ensuring and monitoring that all marketing, advertising, and promotional efforts are consistent with Fairmont Austin and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts’ brand standards
- Ensure that advertising and promotions budget is balanced and that projects are prioritized based on the available budget.
- Develop and support various media initiatives such as media visits, media events, photo shoots, story pitches to enhance the profile of the Fairmont Austin and our global presence
- Execute Fairmont Austin’s Corporate Social Responsibility platform and Green Partnership Program
- Develop local Partnerships that will strengthen the hotel’s community relations and leverage our brand, location and align with our key initiatives
- Demonstrates superior research and analytical skills
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of trends to anticipate future market dynamics and develop a strategic direction
- Possesses strong skills and abilities to support the development and implementation of Fairmont Austin strategy across all communications platforms including social media
- Defines and executes the Communication Strategy
- Demonstrates strong creative and conceptual thinking in delivering solutions that are innovative, while maintaining the authenticity and reflecting the reputation of the Fairmont Austin
- Liaison between the hotel and its partners – maintain existing partnerships/develop new ones. Ensure all partnerships are appropriate for the hotel in terms of image and benefits.
- Assist in the selection of appropriate agencies to support the positioning of the Fairmont Austin throughout the pre-opening and opening. Oversees agency management within the Communications department
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
- Proven competency in planning, organizational, and communication skills with a very strong command of the English language
- Creative Writing and press release creation and dissemination
- Previous experience in Marketing or communications (internal or external)
- Strong relationships and experience interacting with Media
- Strong visual and mental concentration for preparing/proofreading documents, collateral, and advertising
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize with the ability to follow through on objectives
- Post Secondary education preferred
