TEAM

Woven by Toyota’s Safety & Quality organization is dedicated to managing safety and quality at the company level. The team focuses on processes, policies, and compliance, aiming to prioritize product and process safety and quality. The team operates with the principles of standardization, fostering a unified approach to safety processes.


The “Global Operational Safety” team, as part of the Safety & Quality organization,  is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance in Woven by Toyota’s operations across all regions. Here is the mission and vision for the team:

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking a seasoned and results-oriented Operational Safety Senior Advisor for Woven by Toyota, who will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the welfare of our employees and enhancing our safety protocols. This role involves establishing plans to engage employees and leaders in safety initiatives and programs,  spearheading our operational safety management system, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and fostering a safety-focused culture throughout the organization. The Advisor will partner with different departments to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations, promoting safety as a company-wide commitment.


This role will also create and direct Woven by Toyota's strategy for standardizing safety regulatory compliance efforts. Responsibilities include managing safety inspections, reviewing test plans, delivering safety training and education, and implementing pre-work risk analysis.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Enterprise-Level Risk Assessment and Risk Management:
  • Support and lead enterprise-level risk assessment and risk management activities.
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate risks and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework that aligns with organizational goals.


Gap Analysis and Policy Review:
  • Conduct thorough gap analyses on existing safety policies and standards.
  • Identify discrepancies and areas for improvement in current safety practices.
  • Recommend updates and modifications to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Participate in technical safety reviews, test plans reviews, and safety case reviews.


Assessment and Action Planning:
  • Complete an initial assessment of the effectiveness of implemented safety procedures.
  • Develop and implement an action plan to address any identified shortcomings.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of safety initiatives and improvements.


Training and Culture Promotion:
  • Establish comprehensive safety training programs for various roles within the organization.
  • Promote a safety culture that encourages organization-wide engagement and collaboration.
  • Develop communication strategies to raise awareness and understanding of safety issues and best practices.


Compliance and Auditing:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance.


Support for Safety Council/Committee:
  • Provide support for the Woven by Toyota safety council/safety committee by defining objectives, creating meeting agendas, and establishing schedules.
  • Chair regular safety meetings to address safety issues/concerns, analyze incidents, and develop improvement strategies.
  • Foster active involvement and contribution from all relevant stakeholders.
  • Interface with company leadership, employees, contractors, OSHA, NHTSA, and other regulatory agencies to ensure a safe, and compliant environment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational safety and compliance, preferably within the automotive or transportation sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Automated Driving, ADAS technology, and regulatory environments.
  • Experience supporting vehicle operations with a familiarity with operational challenges and requirements..
  • Proficiency in analyzing transportation safety data, extracting insights, and establishing performance metrics.
  • Expertise with Operational Safety Health Management System (OSHMS) and ISO 45001 is a must.


NICE TO HAVES
  • Certification in safety or compliance management (e.g., CSP, ASP, SMS) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety, Safety Management System, Safety Cases, and safety data analysis.
  • Strong project leadership skills.
  • Business level Japanese language proficiency.

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA, the base pay for this position ranges from $115,500- $189,750 a year.


Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. We offer a base salary, short term and long term incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.
