Western National is seeking a Associate Product Manager to join our team!
The individual in this role will have the opportunity to analyze product performance, identify market trends and opportunities, and support the maintenance and enhancement of our property-and-casualty insurance products. The individual in this role will provide critical support to the product managers by delivering insightful data analysis, contributing to strategic initiatives, and assisting with the execution of product initiatives to ensure the ongoing growth and profitability of our business.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?
- Partners with data analysts and actuaries to analyze product performance metrics, including loss ratios, premium trends, and profitability, to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Summarizes key findings and insights from product performance analysis and reports findings to product managers.
- Conducts competitive analysis to benchmark our products against industry trends and competitor offerings.
- Supports the maintenance and enhancement of insurance products by collaborating with underwriting, technology, sales, and actuarial teams.
- Utilizes data analysis tools to extract insights and provide actionable recommendations to senior management.
- Engages with marketing and sales teams to understand customer needs and refine product positioning.
- Supports the product management function by coordinating research, data analysis, and other applicable components to drive product strategies forward.
- Provides data-driven insights and recommendations to influence product strategy.
- Maintains accountability for the completion of assigned deliverables with little day-to-day management.
- Assists in determining product enhancements and modifications based on market trends and company goals.
- Collaborates with teams while maintaining authority over analytical methodologies and reporting structures.
- Works with cross-functional teams on complex issues, projects, and analyses.
- Interprets complex data sets and translates them into actionable business insights.
- Identifies trends and potential risks within product performance through problem-solving.
- Evaluates and summarizes market research to recommend strategic adjustments.
- Consistently meets our customer experience standards, including responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, demonstrating empathy, with intermediate effectiveness in, managing the customer’s expectations, using a service-oriented mindset, and taking ownership to ensure the customer’s issue is resolved.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?
- Three to five years of experience in a product, underwriting, or analytical role within the property-and-casualty insurance industry.
- Prior knowledge of insurance coverage, pricing, underwriting principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.
- Experience working with actuarial data and statistical modeling is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others at all levels on key decisions and direction.
- Proven ability to foster a collaborative and productive environment within a team and across the organization.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Ability to multitask and solve complex problems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, data analytics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
What will our ideal candidate have?
- Progressing towards insurance-related designation(s), such as CPCU, AINS, or ARM, is preferred.
Compensation overview
The full hiring range for this role is $81,400 - $111,980, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
