VP, Analytics
Job Description
Who are we?
UpGuard’s mission is to protect the world’s data. We obsessively seek out elegant, robust ways to enable our customers to find, acknowledge, and remediate cyber risk. With UpGuard, organizations leverage our security expertise and software to automate what was once laborious, spreadsheet-driven processes–whether it's monitoring the attack surface of hundreds of vendors or assessing the security of their own infrastructure. UpGuard is used by some of the world’s largest, fastest-growing, and most innovative companies.
Our Analytics team at UpGuard supports all of our teams to extract key insights from the data that we collect. We extract data from multiple sources and build insightful dashboards to display key metrics and support leaders to make decisions. We also build integrations between systems to seamlessly collect required data.
Why are we hiring this role?
As UpGuard continues its rapid growth trajectory, we are seeking an accomplished and visionary Vice President of Analytics to lead and scale our critical Analytics function. This is a unique opportunity to build out a best-in-class data-driven culture, directly influencing strategic decision-making and driving significant business impact across the organisation. You will be instrumental in laying the data infrastructure foundation that supports our ambitious expansion and ensures we harness the full power of our data.
\n- Strategic Leadership & Vision: Define and execute the long-term vision and strategy for the Analytics function, aligning it with the overall company goals and growth objectives.
- AI & Automation Leadership: Lead and integrate our central A3 function, (AI, Automation & Analytics), identifying opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence and automation to improve operational efficiency and business processes.
- Central Analytics Function Management: Oversee and enhance the existing central Analytics function, ensuring its effectiveness in providing actionable insights to various business units.
- Data Infrastructure & Scalability: Partner closely with engineering and other relevant teams to define, design, and implement the robust data infrastructure necessary to support an organisation scaling towards $100M in revenue. This includes considerations for data warehousing, ETL processes, data governance, and data quality.
- Team Leadership & Growth: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of business analysts, data engineers, and in the future, data scientists. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Business Acumen & Impact: Translate complex data insights into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for senior leadership and business stakeholders. Drive measurable business outcomes through data-driven strategies across product, marketing, sales, and operations.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with executive leadership and department heads, understanding their analytical needs and proactively delivering solutions that address critical business challenges.
- Data Science Integration: Plan for and, in due course, build out a data science capability within the analytics function, leveraging advanced analytical techniques and machine learning to uncover deeper insights and build predictive models.
- Reporting and Insights: Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive reports, dashboards, and self-service analytics tools that empower business users to make data-informed decisions.
- Proven Leadership: 6+ years of progressive leadership experience in Analytics, with a minimum of 3-5 years specifically leading a central Analytics function within a high-growth SaaS company.
- Scaling Experience: Demonstrated experience in scaling an Analytics function and its underlying data infrastructure in an organisation experiencing significant growth (ideally towards $100M+ revenue).
- Data Infrastructure Expertise: Strong understanding of modern data infrastructure principles, technologies (e.g., cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery; ETL/ELT tools; data visualisation tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker; data governance frameworks). You don't need to be a hands-on data engineer, but you must understand the complexities and requirements.
- Exceptional Business Acumen: Ability to quickly understand complex business problems, identify key performance indicators, and translate data into strategic insights that drive tangible business value.
- Communication & Influence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and influence decision-making at all levels.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Highly analytical and strategic mindset, with a proven track record of developing and executing data strategies that align with business objectives.
