Job Description:

The Senior Director for Leadership, Career Readiness, and Work-Based Learning plays a pivotal role in advancing the university’s mission to prepare students for meaningful careers and pathways towards leadership roles. This position leads the development and implementation of comprehensive integrated career readiness strategies, work-based learning programs, and leadership initiatives. The Senior Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure students are equipped with the skills, experiences, and networks necessary for success in a dynamic workforce.

Responsibilities:

Career Readiness

  • Design and work cross-functionally across the university to implement innovative career education programs that align with workforce trends and student needs
  • Integrate career readiness and industry-demand skills-based credentialing into academic curricula - from student orientation through graduation - in collaboration with faculty, student affairs, and academic leadership.
  • Provide strategic oversight of career advising, employer engagement, and job placement services.

Work-Based Learning Programs

  • Expand and manage experiential education opportunities - internships, co-ops, project-based learning, etc. across diverse industries for required majors, but also encouragement for all majors
  • Partner with employers, alumni, and community organizations to create high-impact experiential learning opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with academic standards and legal requirements for internships.

Leadership Development

  • Support a culture of leadership development throughout the university as integral to the UMSV experience
  • Develop and deliver programs that foster personal and professional growth: i.e. Annual Leadership Summit
  • Collaborate with student affairs and academic departments to embed leadership development across the student experience: i.e. NSLS
  • Work alongside Alumni, Advancement, & Academic Affairs to re-develop the Mount Mentors program

Strategic Partnerships and Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to align career and leadership initiatives with broader workforce and partnership strategies.
  • Engage with industry leaders, public-sector representatives, community partners, and academic institutions to enhance program offerings and student outcomes.
  • Explore, review and engage third party providers as appropriate to support institutional mission, vision, and strategic planning.

Assessment and Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to use data and feedback to assess the effectiveness of career and leadership programs.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to prepare reports and presentations for university leadership and external stakeholders.

Other

  • Actively promote and support the University by participation in other campuswide recruitment activities (i.e. Accepted Students Day, Orientation), public presentations, and serving on boards and committees.
  • Support the University mission based on value-oriented education, rooted in the Catholic tradition.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelors degree; Masters preferred
  • Three years of relevant experience in Higher Education
  • Exceptional Computer Skills – Microsoft.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures to students and interact effectively with faculty and staff.
  • Knowledge of program development in a higher education setting
  • Familiarity with Banner, Self-Service, and EAB Navigate preferred

The allotted salary range is $70,000 - $75,000
