Transwest is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Assistant Controller to support the financial operations and growth of our company. This role is ideal for someone who combines technical accounting expertise with a passion for process improvement,

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare monthly journal entries.
- Review and reconcile accounting schedules and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Strengthen compliance, mitigate risk, and support audit readiness with proactive planning and oversight.
- Leverage modern accounting systems and automation tools to streamline reporting and data management.
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Support budgeting or forecasting process
- Work closely with management teams in reviewing financial data to assist in operational improvement.
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 5+ years experience in accounting field.
- Strong analytical skills and technical skills.
- Automotive or truck dealership experience is a plus.
- CPA is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post- offer background check, physical and drug screening.
