Transwest is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Assistant Controller to support the financial operations and growth of our company. This role is ideal for someone who combines technical accounting expertise with a passion for process improvement,

digital tools, and long-term financial planning. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial integrity, optimize workflows, and support scalable growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries.
  • Review and reconcile accounting schedules and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Strengthen compliance, mitigate risk, and support audit readiness with proactive planning and oversight.
  • Leverage modern accounting systems and automation tools to streamline reporting and data management.
  • Provide guidance and support to accounting staff
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Support budgeting or forecasting process
  • Work closely with management teams in reviewing financial data to assist in operational improvement.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in accounting field.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical skills.
  • Automotive or truck dealership experience is a plus.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post- offer background check, physical and drug screening.
