Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Tiverton is seeking a proactive and resourceful Vice President - Accounting who can provide the highest quality financial strategy and accounting acumen for Tiverton, while also undertaking various other tasks required at a fast-growing company. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented problem solver with the desire to work in a dynamic environment.
This position will be an integral part of the Tiverton team and provide critical support to both the accounting department and the organization. The successful Vice President - Accounting will be self-motivated and energized by working with a group of thoughtful, smart, and skilled colleagues. He or she will enjoy being a part of a young and hungry organization focused on becoming the pre-eminent investment firm in US food production.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
For the Investment Manager:
- Analyze financial data and assist with preparing management financial statement reports
- Monitor evolving SEC regulations and help with the implementation of new rules and disclosure requirements
- Collaborate with the accounting team in accounts payable and payment runs
For the Investment Funds:
- Assist with monthly investment reporting, cash forecasting, and development of internal control processes
- Manage and assist with quarterly and yearly financial statements including the annual audit process
- Provide technical accounting and tax guidance related to complex fund structures and investment vehicles
- Lead coordination and review of annual tax filings and compliance in partnerships with external tax provider
- Assist with cash management, monitoring credit lines, and various other cash forecasting requirements
- Support investor requests such as fund performance and special projects as they arise
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or other related majors
- A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in public accounting, fund/investment accounting, or equivalent work, with a proven history of increasing job responsibility and supervision skills
- CPA strongly preferred
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, partnership accounting, SEC fund compliance, and investment vehicle tax structures
- Proven track record of successfully managing third-party service providers (tax, auditors, and other providers)
- Dedicated work ethic, commitment to enhancing the team, curiosity, and problem-solving skills
