JOB SCOPE: Supervises the day-to-day revenue cycle data analytics team to leverage expertise and maximize planned and adhoc reporting of timely, accurate and meaningful data. Builds processing capacity and team to support projects using statistical methods, modeling, analytical methodologies, and data analysis. Partners and communicates effectively with organizational leaders to strategize and align key reporting needs. Extracts insights from data for the purposes of project forecasts and schedules and implements improvements for organizational data reporting needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology's Shared Values.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Acts as the supervisor of the data analytics team, to include:

  • Operational SME and point of contact in Revenue Cycle Data Analytics
  • Attracts high caliber people, accurately assesses strengths and development needs of employees; provides timely, specific feedback and helpful coaching; provides challenging assignments and opportunities for development.  Responsible for interviewing, recommending hires, assessing performance, recommending salary changes, and progressive discipline.  Enforces adherence to US Oncology policies.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities.
  • Manages project timelines and status.
  • Responsible for quality work, meeting deadlines, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs); regularly audits staffs work to ensure compliance. 
  • Guides individuals and teams toward priorities; clarifies roles and responsibilities of others; coordinates resources to meet objectives.  Cascades goals down to employees’ annual objectives. 
  • Champions new initiatives; acts as a catalyst of change and stimulates others to change; paves the way for needed changes; manages implementation effectively.  Steps forward to address difficult issues; puts self on the line to deal with important problems; takes ownership and accountability.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the data analytics team training materials.  Conducts training of SOPs, systems, metrics, compliance requirements, etc.

Contributes to the analytics strategy and deployment:

  • Intakes customer needs and prioritizes and allocates resources.
  • Reports on project status.
  • Formulates analytics strategy and engages with key leaders to ensure alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Maintains professional accountability to support quality and process improvement efforts and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Provides expertise in data management, data collection, data analysis, data visualization, data distribution, KPI and metric creation.
  • Evaluates new opportunities to improve analytics utilization.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in at least one computer programming language or analytical programming language (R, Python, SAS, etc)
  • Experience with generating Power of BI, Centricity Business, Athena IDK, Mosaiq and BPI reporting
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience in relational database structures
  • Experience in data flows, conceptual knowledge of ETL
  • Must possess a highly consultative work style and excellent communication skills.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Minimum 3-5 years medical business office and information technology experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years managing, delegating, and following up on work priorities of others is strongly desired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.  Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
