Position Summary:

We are looking for a proactive, adaptable, and mission-driven individual to serve as our Partnerships & Communications Manager / Officer. This role sits at the intersection of stakeholder engagement, communications, internal coordination, and fundraising support. As a small team, we value versatility—and this role offers flexibility to tailor responsibilities based on the successful candidate’s unique skills and experience.

You could serve as a primary liaison to GTA partners and potential partners, lead communication efforts, and provide project coordination support across events, campaigns, and grant-related activities. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a collaborative mindset and broad skill set who wants to contribute to tangible change in ocean sustainability.

We are a small, diverse team and we value authenticity, adaptability, and varied thinking styles. You’ll be joining a culture that is collaborative and always evolving, where comfort with ambiguity is as valuable as attention to detail.

Core Responsibilities:

Partnerships & Outreach

  • Act as the point of contact for new and current GTA partners (corporate and NGO), building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Onboard new partners and maintain accurate CRM records (via Monday.com, MailChimp, Google Suite).
  • Coordinate meetings and engagements, including outreach, scheduling, materials, and follow-up.
  • Lead development of partner-focused resources: presentations, reports, briefing materials, etc.
  • Build new engagement models to support our partnerships.

Communications & Engagement

  • Develop and deliver compelling content: newsletters, blog posts, social media, media releases.
  • Maintain a strategic content calendar and ensure messaging is consistent and aligned with GTA values.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and partners for joint messaging, media campaigns, and brand management.

Campaign & Advocacy Support

  • Assist in developing and disseminating GTA’s global advocacy campaigns (e.g., around RFMO events such as ICCAT, IOTC, WCPFC).
  • Format and edit position statements and policy summaries.
  • Coordinate input from the GTA Partners, quotes, visual assets, and engagement materials.

Event & Project Coordination

  • Assist and support organisational project management
  • Help organize GTA’s presence at events such as seafood expos, partner summits, strategy workshops.
  • Manage logistics for in-person and online events.
  • Develop supporting event materials: invites, handouts, panel briefings.

Internal Coordination & Grants

  • Contribute to organisational reporting and strategy documents.
  • Support grant writing and reporting processes (foundation outreach, donor coordination).
  • Align engagement efforts with strategic goals and key organisational priorities.

Our Hiring Ethos:

We believe in hiring the person, not just the CV. If you see parts of this role that excite you, even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying. We value potential, lived experience, and a willingness to learn.

This role can flex slightly depending on the strengths of the successful candidate. For example:

  • Strong on comms? We’ll bolster engagement support.
  • Strong on outreach or policy? We'll tailor comms assistance accordingly.

Let us know in your cover letter where you think you could add the most value. Feel free to share examples that show your approach, your style, or how you’ve made an impact in past roles or projects.
