Job Description

The Development Manager serves as a team lead on the DNC's Development team, reporting directly to the Grassroots Donor Relations Director. This position cultivates and maintains relationships with our Leadership Circle donors ($1,000+/year), manages donor contact and giving records, and develops and implements midlevel fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, personable, and passionate about helping the DNC meet its fundraising goals through effective donor engagement and relationship-building.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with a group of mid-tier grassroots donors who are giving gifts of $1000+/year, serving as the main point of contact for any needs or information requested by donors;
  • Be responsible for directly soliciting gifts from supporters via phone, email, and other channels;
  • Develop and implement fundraising campaigns and strategies to engage supporters and increase donor participation;
  • Set fundraising targets and develop action plans to achieve them;
  • Work with our mid-tier telemarketing vendors to optimize how we’re communicating with these donors and managing the relationships with these vendors; 
  • Supervise Development Assistants and delegate work amongst the Development team;
  • Coordinate with the Donor Relations, Direct Mail, and Email/SMS teams to develop and implement engagement strategies for these donors;
  • Other duties as assigned to support the grassroots donor relations department and the DNC's mission.


Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of experience in political or non-profit fundraising.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; you love speaking with supporters on the phone.
  • You’re able to sift through data and are comfortable with donor databases.
  • Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining relationships with donors on a 1:1 basis.
  • Deep understanding of the political landscape and campaign finance regulations.
  • Commitment to the Democratic Party and reelecting Democrats up and down the ballot.

The starting salary for the Development position is $65,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends.  This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
