Senior Digital Communications Specialist 

Job Summary

Southern Company Corporate Communications seeks a dynamic and innovative video storyteller who excels in creating engaging and compelling content. This role involves shooting, editing, and managing the entire production process for various content types, including videos, social media, and podcasts. The ideal candidate will bring the Southern Company brand and business initiatives to life through creative storytelling. Strong listening, writing, and project management skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities 

  • Develop and produce high-quality video content for diverse platforms.
  • Lead the creative and production process from ideation to distribution, including scriptwriting, content calendar management, field production, and post-production.
  • Work with executives and talent on-set, ensuring they feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
  • Generate innovative story ideas and pitches with minimal guidance, adapting to tight deadlines and unexpected challenges.
  • Create short-form, medium-form, and long-form scripted and non-scripted content, ensuring alignment with the Southern Company brand voice. Bonus if applicable has social media, animation and stop motion graphics experience.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external partners, demonstrating leadership and professionalism.
  • Manage multiple project timelines, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Utilize key metrics to evaluate content effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications 

  • BA/BFA degree or experience within the content/media/entertainment/creative/marketing industry preferred

Related Work Experience 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a videographer, field producer, news producer, assignment editor, or multimedia/production experience at an agency or company required
  • Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong project management skills and innovative thinking, staying abreast of emerging video trends.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and comfort with video production studio equipment.
  • Advanced editing skills and videography knowledge.
  • Attention to detail and ensure quality control.
  • Competence in designing/editing on both PC and Mac platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: 

  • The incumbent works in an office environment and at times remote
  • Ability to travel for solo assignments
