Job Description

As a Senior Associate Asset Manager at Scout, you will optimize the financial performance of your portfolio of renewable assets. We will rely on you to lead our strategic and tactical analysis to enhance the assets’ EBITDA performance over the near and long term. This will encompass all aspects of the facilities – financial, commercial, stakeholder relations, compliance, and operations. 

You will work alongside specialized analysts, a day ahead and real-time trader, and another asset manager. You will interface frequently with the Operations, Project Finance, and Accounting teams. This position reports to the Senior Asset Manager. 

 

Your responsibilities center around analysis of operational and financial performance of wind energy assets and will include the following: 

Assist with developing Develop a comprehensive view of each facility’s financial plan and performance: 

  • Generate budgets and perform variance analyses. 
  • Conduct cash flow forecasting and management. 
  • Responsible for regular reports for various parties, including investors, management, and lenders.  

Provide support for each facility’s operating and compliance programs: 

  • Manage commercial agreements and participate in contract negotiations. 
  • Review, analyze, and interpret of a wide range of project documents to ensure compliance 
  • Identify key contract terms, obligations, and risks that support critical business decisions 
  • Coordinate warranty and insurance claims. 
  • Ensure that your projects achieve compliance with requirements for various project agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements, Credit Agreements, Operating and Maintenance Agreements. 

Participate in project transitions: 

  • Coordinate the onboarding of new projects, including developing and improving the handoff process between Development / Construction and Asset Management 
  • Work with Project Finance to achieve financial close with investors 
  • Capital recycling campaigns (asset sales) – assist with due diligence 

Manage relationships with key external stakeholders – offtakers, vendors, property owners, local governments, and permitting agencies. 

Identify, analyze, and oversee the rollout of continuous improvement: 

  • Collaborate with internal team members to establish and implement practices that will lead to achievement of the financial plan and delivery on commercial and compliance requirements: 
  • Align key internal stakeholders with the plan and understand operational aspects of delivery. 
  • Work with Asset Management team members to establish ways to track progress toward the plan. 
  • Coordinate technical management with site-based teams. 

Coordinate with other teams within Scout: 

  • Inform the Development team’s analysis of new projects, including providing input and review of the pro-forma financial model for new assets. 
  • Support the transition of projects from Construction to Operations. 

Lead, inform, and/or support the development of processes, procedures, and reports that improve our team’s efficiency and profitability.  

Communicate proactively with Asset Management leadership and team members as you identify key trends, opportunities, and concerns. Present your analysis of potential solutions and make recommendations. 

Contribute to special projects upon request. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, or another quantitative discipline. Advanced degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of utility scale energy experience with a basic understanding of renewable energy projects. 
  • Extraordinary reading comprehension skills, specifically pertaining to legal contracts 
  • Exceptional analytical skills and demonstrated proficiency in Excel. 
  • Experience creating and managing budgets and performing financial modeling. 
  • Particularly strong at optimizing EBITDA given cash constraints and availability. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills with the ability to use influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes. 
  • Ability to concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations and risk/benefit tradeoffs, both in written, verbal, and presentation format, to the Asset Management team and to senior management. 
  • Ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting. 
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. 
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. 

 

Timeline and Location 

The target start date for this role is Q3 2025, pending successful reference and criminal background checks.  

It will be expected that the Asset Manager will be based in our Boulder, CO office on our hybrid in-office work schedule.

Target base salary: $90,000 - $120,000 (Negotiable for the right candidate.)
