We are seeking a motivated associate director to join our BioAnalytics Characterization group in the Genomic Medicine Unit within Sanofi. We are looking for a leader in the field of biophysics who will drive product characterization and understanding for our AAV and targeted mRNA/LNP modalities, to facilitate clinical product development.

 

The Genomic Medicine Unit at Sanofi is dedicated to the establishment of best-in-class platforms to support development of life-changing advanced gene therapy products, including recombinant AAV vectors and lipid nanoparticles. The BioAnalytics Characterization group uses advanced analytical techniques for in-depth structural and functional characterization of gene therapy products in support of drug development, from pre-candidate selection through commercialization.

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop innovative strategies and technologies for characterizing viral and non-viral gene therapy vectors.

  • Lead a team in performing advanced biophysical separation/ characterization techniques including DLS, SV-AUC, AF4-MALS, Cytoflex/NanoFCM, NTA, CE, cIEF, MFI, NMR, and fluorescence assays for batch characterization, comparability, stress study and reference standard characterization.

  • Serve as a biophysical subject matter expert (SME) within the GMU organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support process and formulation development.

  • Design and conduct structure/function studies in collaboration with analytical development, process development and research groups.

  • Author technical reports and study protocols; prepare analytical sections for regulatory submissions (IND/IMPD/BLA filings).

  • Contribute to scientific literature and present findings at industry conference.

  •  Mentor and provide technical oversight for early-career scientists, fostering their professional growth and development.

 

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in a Biochemistry/Biophysics, or Chemistry-related field with a minimum of 7+ years’ relevant industry experience or MS with 11+ years’ relevant industry experience or BS with a minimum of 12+ years’ relevant industry experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience in multiple biophysical techniques listed above.

  • Proven track record of successfully implementing novel analytical technologies.

  • Demonstrated expertise in characterizing proteins, viral/nonviral vectors using multiple tools and orthogonal data to understand protein/viral degradation pathways and structure behavior.

The salary range for this position is:

$147,000.00 - $212,333.33
