Experimental Physicist
Job Description
Our Mission
QuantWare is the world's leading manufacturer of superconducting quantum hardware. As a high growth start-up with a global customer base, our mission is to accelerate the advent of the quantum computer. We push the boundaries of what's possible in our field. We work on making the world’s largest quantum processors, as fast as possible.
At QuantWare, we’re not just producing quantum hardware for the hyperscalers of tomorrow; we’re working on technology that will change the world. To make that ambition a reality, we need exceptional people who drive real impact. That’s where you come in.
As an Experimental Physicist in our R&D team, your work will be critical to advancing the scalability and performance of superconducting quantum processors. You’ll focus on developing nonreciprocal superconducting circuits, such as isolators and parametric amplifiers, that enhance readout fidelity, reduce system noise, and improve overall stability.
You’ll also support material research initiatives that boost qubit coherence and two-qubit gate fidelity. By working closely with engineers and experimentalists across the organisation, you will help translate research innovations into scalable, production-ready technologies that define the future of quantum computing.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design and perform device characterisation experiments targeting improvements in coherence, readout fidelity, gain, bandwidth, and isolation
Drive material research to enhance qubit performance by reducing TLS-related losses
Develop and optimise measurement protocols for nonreciprocal superconducting circuits, including isolators and parametric amplifiers
Analyse and interpret experimental data to extract insights that guide further development
Contribute to the development of high-fidelity qubit readout modules, integrating on-chip components like parametric amplifiers and isolators
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to feed experimental insights directly into device design cycles
Your Profile
We know the perfect candidate doesn’t exist, but if most of the following sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you:
MSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent hands-on experience (PhD is a plus)
2+ years of research experience in quantum systems or cryogenic measurements (industry or academia)
Proficiency in Python for experiment automation and data processing
Hands-on experience with superconducting circuits or similar quantum technologies
Knowledge of nonreciprocal circuits, parametric amplifiers, or advanced quantum readout techniques is a strong plus
Familiarity with microwave engineering, noise reduction, or thermalisation techniques is a significant advantage
What We Offer:
At QuantWare, you’ll be part of a high-performing team of world-class experts in an ambitious, fast-moving environment. From day one, you’ll have the trust, tools, and support to do your best work. Here’s what you can expect:
