Senior / Staff Software Engineer
Job Description
Podium Automation is an early-stage startup reimagining industrial control panel manufacturing through software-enabled design and automated fabrication. We’re building technology to create a new industrial supply chain and reduce lead times for critical electrical equipment from months to days. We have raised $5M+ to-date and are backed by a16z’s American Dynamism fund, SV Angel, and Banter Capital.
We are seeking a full-time Senior Software Engineer who is excited to invent new technology in the built world. You will work directly with the founding software engineer, as well as our team of electrical engineers, to write the core software that cuts the electrical design process from weeks down to <24 hours.
What You’ll Do
You will be joining a nimble and growing team (<10 FTEs) as the second software engineer, and as such you will become a founding architect of our technology. You’ll work closely to drive technical roadmap decisions and take them through to execution.
Primary areas of focus:
Refining and expanding our novel, proprietary data model for industrial devices
Extracting device data locked up in user manuals and datasheets
Productizing our device database: giving electrical engineers the tools that make the design process faster and more scalable
Encoding Podium electrical design principles and patterns into a schematic generator
We are a software-enabled hardware company, so in addition to our core tech you will also take your software chops to other parts of the business that unlock efficiency, such as:
Uniting data between systems we own and systems we use, such as ECAD and ERP
Integrating with our ECAD software to automate device modeling
Managing our on-premise database - ensure access is both secure and speedy
Integrating with the build process, such as task flow execution and order management
This is a position for someone who thrives working across the stack: writing services, building UIs, spinning up infrastructure. You’re a good fit if you enjoy dabbling outside the traditional bounds of their role: stewarding the product experience, learning how electrical engineers do their job, even cutting steel from time to time.
Required for this role
Have 5+ years experience building software systems
Are proficient with TypeScript
Are proficient with SQL and relational databases
Have experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
Have experience in a startup environment, especially in a technical leadership position
Ability to work onsite 4-5 days/week at our office in Brooklyn, NY
Previous experience in hardware or manufacturing is not a requirement, but a bonus.
We use Deno, Postgres, SQL Server, HTMX, Docker, Terraform, and AWS.
