Systems Administrator
Job Description
Persona AI is developing and commercializing rugged, multi-purpose humanoid robots that perform real work. Persona’s founding team has a decades-long history in humanoid robotics, bionics, and product development delivering robust hardware that has touched the stars, worked miles below the surface of the ocean, roamed Disney Parks, and has even been featured on a US postage stamp. Our mission is focused squarely on shipping beautiful, reliable products at massive scale, while building a customer-focused team to achieve these aims.
We're looking for exceptional people who dream big, thrive on challenges, and love seeing their designs come to life. We are primarily interested in candidates who have shipped products in the fields of autonomy, robotics, consumer products, medical devices, automotive, or aerospace. We also value advanced degrees and deep expertise.
As an inaugural employee at Persona, you will have an incredible opportunity to shape the design of Persona’s humanoid robots, while also helping set the culture of the company. If you're passionate about cutting-edge technology and want to be part of a world-class team we'd love to hear from you.
Your Role:
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure network infrastructure for our office, R&D labs, and future production facilities.
Configure and manage network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
Proactively manage VLANs to segment various hardware testbeds (e.g., individual robot prototypes, specialized sensor rigs, motion capture stages) ensuring network isolation, optimizing traffic flow, and preventing interference between sensitive robotic systems.
Implement and manage network monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and proactively identify bottlenecks.
Ensure robust network connectivity for high-bandwidth data transfer requirements from robot sensor arrays and simulation environments.
Administer and maintain our server infrastructure (on-premise and cloud-based).
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control across all systems and platforms.
Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for critical data, including robot code repositories, simulation data, and R&D results.
Configure and manage virtualized environments to support development, testing, and simulation of robot software.
We’re Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
3-5 years of experience in an IT support or system administration role, ideally in a startup or fast-paced technology environment.
Strong hands-on experience with network design, configuration, and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls).
Proven experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash) and strong familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) for managing and provisioning infrastructure.
Proficiency in administering both Linux and Windows operating systems.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Solid understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred or Bonus Qualifications:
Experience supporting R&D teams or engineering environments.
Experience with embedded systems and edge computing platforms.
Familiarity with robotics frameworks (e.g., ROS) or control systems.
Experience with network attached storage (NAS) solutions for large datasets.
Why join Persona AI?
You'll shape technology that's redefining the possibilities of robotics and human interaction.
Work alongside passionate teammates who value diversity, creativity, and continuous learning.
Enjoy full access to advanced prototyping tools, labs, and the freedom to experiment and innovate.
We offer competitive compensation, excellent benefits, flexible work environment, and equity opportunities.
Not sure if you meet all the listed qualifications? That’s okay!
We encourage you to apply anyway. Our needs are constantly evolving, and we're always looking for talented individuals who can grow with us. You might be exactly who we’re looking for — even if it’s for a role we haven’t thought of yet.
Persona AI embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We believe the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
