Position Summary
The position of Category Buyer is responsible for ensuring the orders of the category defined by business are received on time and in full. These items (products or services) are to support R&D, Production, Supply Chain and Field Maintenance requirements.
The position of Buyer is responsible for direct and indirect procurement, order management, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers in conjunction with the Senior Buyer who is responsible for monitoring risk related to supply issues, including obsolescence, that may impact production schedules or item availability and escalating to Head of Procurement and Operations teams.
This is a full time, in office role located at OrganOx’s US headquarters in Madison, NJ.
Listed below are the key responsibilities of the role and a brief description of some of the key tasks to be performed. This list is not totally inclusive, and the job holder will be expected to complete tasks reasonably requested by the Head of Procurement or the SVP Operations.
Major Responsibilities
Under direction from the Head of Procurement, the Category Buyer will be responsible for:
· Order management: The direct placing of purchase orders utilizing the ERP system. Managing the SAP authorization process for medium and high value orders with director/senior management; Monitor the open order book to ensure orders are received on time in full. Identify the need and liaising with suppliers to expedite orders; Introduce and manage the processes to monitor, report, and actively manage purchase orders; Escalate supplier performance or purchase order issues to the Head of Procurement and Operations Team; Working with Planning team, review recommendations in the ERP MRP module and action accordingly; Liaising with Manufacturing and product Support team, to coordinate the RMA process with suppliers on behalf of the Manufacturing Manager and Product Support Manager
· Quotation management: Managing the supplier quote process.
· Sourcing: Assist R&D, Product Engineering or Manufacturing team in sourcing new items with existing or potential new suppliers.
· Risk management: Ensure that any issues including obsolescence that may impact production schedules or item availability are escalated to the Head of Procurement.
· Item management: Actively manage the product item master data in ERP regarding purchasing parameters (lead time, price, MOQ, etc…) to ensure correct MRP and Financial Accounting performance.
· Supplier management: Lead or support negotiation with suppliers to ensure product quality is achieved at appropriate cost; Travel to suppliers where a business need has been identified; Arrange and support the Planning and Manufacturing team to conduct regular supplier performance reviews.
· Stakeholder Management: Manage Stakeholders expectation, adding value by coordinating in between to achieve compliance and deliver outputs
· Quality management: Assist the Manufacturing and Quality Function with the resolution of quality issues prior to order delivery.
· Administration: General purchasing administration tasks including resolving queries and filing paperwork.
· Cost Reduction: Identify and action any opportunities for cost reduction.
· Continuous Improvement: Assist with the creation and development of procurement processes.
Skills & Experience
- Ability to produce Technical Reports to a high standard in terms of technical content, presentation, and written English.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the company including Production, Commercial, Sales, Quality, Engineering and Finance.
- Good understanding of procurement processes and relevant experience within a similar role.
- Computer literate to a high level in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Adaptable in a continuously evolving environment.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
- Proactive, resourceful and good problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Able to communicate and liaise effectively with people of all levels.
- Confident interacting and negotiating with suppliers.
- Adhere to the letter and spirit of OrganOx’s Code of Conduct and all other company policies.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a buyer/purchasing role, preferably within the medical technology field
- 2 or more years of experience of using an ERP system in daily activity.
- Good understanding of MRP, ideally with direct working experience.
- Experience producing Technical Reports, analzying data and making recommendations.
- Formal qualification in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management highly preferred (For example, qualified or working towards CIPS Level 4)
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

The Pay Range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 annually, with a 10% target annual bonus and benefits.
