The role: 
Join our dedicated team of professionals at the Oregon Department of Aviation (ODVA) as our next Airport Programs Specialist. In this role, you will create and administer programs for state airports that improve safety, equity, engagement and compliance with applicable rules and regulations. In addition, you will recommend methods for improvement and help resolve issues in conjunction with the state airports manager. Apply for this exciting role today!

A day in the life:

  • Develop and administer programs for state airports, including training, community outreach, complaint tracking, volunteer coordination and more.

  • Expand existing programs and establish new programs to assist with the safe and efficient operations of Oregon’s state airports.

  • Research and evaluate program effectiveness to meet airport and community needs.

  • Work with state airports manager and staff to support airport function and provide technical assistance.

  • Travel to airports throughout Oregon and occasionally travel out of state. Travel demands are determined by task and may increase/decrease over time.

  • This position primarily works from a central office, or airport environment and has extensive interaction with the general public to inform, assist and resolve issues.

  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends based on agency needs.

Minimum qualifications:

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience in airport operations, management, or program planning, coordination or administration.
 

OR
 

A bachelor's degree in airport management, business or public administration, behavioral or social sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills and two years experience planning, coordinating or administering a program.
 

Special qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Prior airport operations, management or other aviation experience preferred.

  • Airport Certified Employee (ACE) and Certified Member (C.M.) certifications from the American Association of Airport Executives, or other aviation credentials preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written conflict resolution skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers including creating/editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
