POSITION SUMMARY:

The Group Director, US Tax, will be responsible for overseeing the tax operations related to compliance, planning, and strategy within the Tax department. This role requires a strategic leader who will work closely with corporate stakeholders to ensure NFI Group’s U.S. tax compliance and return preparation while effectively managing relationships with external tax advisors and governing bodies. The Group Director will also lead the analysis of current and proposed tax legislation, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and advising management on tax implications for business decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead the US tax compliance process for NFI Group, ensuring accurate and timely submission of federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Develop and maintain tax strategies that align with the company’s business objectives and enhance tax efficiencies.
  • Monitor and assess changes in US tax legislation and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for US federal and state tax audits, providing direction and coordinating responses.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure that tax provisions are accurately reflected in financial statements.
  • Reviewing the consolidated quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision calculations.
  • Drive tax planning initiatives to optimize tax benefits and minimize risks.
  • Manage relationships with external tax consultants and advisors.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on tax matters and compliance.
  • The administration of the US tax function including the prepartion of tax budgets and forecasts, review and approvals of tax returns and installment payments, performance appraisal, etc.
  • Responsible to ensure all controls (ICFR Internal Controls) identified under their area of responsibility are designed and operating as outlined in the internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Preparation of working papers in support of determination of branch taxable income, BEAT, FTC/FSI, GILTI and FDII computations as well as tracking of various associated U.S. tax attributes.
  • Ensure policies and processes are established and adhered to ensure goals and objectives for all regulatory and legal requirements are met including organizational quality, environmental, health & safety programs.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by executive management.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESFUL:

  • Master’s degree in Taxation or equivalent is preferred.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in U.S. tax compliance and planning, including supervisory experience.
  • Manufacturing sector and US international tax experience will be an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in tax preparation and compliance software, as well as MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership abilities with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork.
