VP, Engineering (Remote - US)

In this leadership role, you will shape the technical vision and strategy of the engineering organization, driving innovation and delivering high-quality, scalable products and services. You will lead a diverse team across software, hardware, and operations, overseeing the full technology stack including direct-to-consumer and enterprise systems. Your influence will span from architectural guidance on key projects to building capabilities in AI, machine learning, and site reliability. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to scale engineering excellence in a fast-growing, wellness-focused environment.
Accountabilities:
- Provide strategic and technical leadership for the engineering team, aligning technology initiatives with business goals and crafting a clear roadmap.
- Drive continuous improvement in software development processes, quality assurance, and release management to enhance efficiency and reduce time to market.
- Define and maintain scalable, reliable technical architectures, staying abreast of emerging technologies and integrating innovative solutions.
- Manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, high performance, and professional growth.
- Collaborate closely with product, growth, operations, and marketing leaders to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts.
- Lead recruitment and talent development strategies to build and sustain a world-class engineering organization.
- Oversee key projects such as CMS migration, mobile app development, ERP and payment gateway transformations, and AI/ML initiatives.
- Establish and track engineering KPIs focused on system efficiency, data quality, and user engagement.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience managing engineering teams, with expertise in high-volume eCommerce platforms and large-scale web and mobile application delivery.
- Strong technical background in software development methodologies and tools, with direct-to-consumer (DTC) experience considered a plus.
- Proven ability to manage and scale distributed engineering teams effectively.
- Experience with agile and lean software delivery practices at scale.
- Hands-on knowledge of open-source frameworks and languages such as React, JavaScript, MySQL, Redis, Scala, and web servers like nginx/php.
- Familiarity with Magento/Adobe Commerce platforms and data engineering tools like Snowflake or Snowpark is desirable.
- Expertise in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and AI/ML technologies, including data preparation, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
- Experience building mobile applications (iOS, Android), with Flutter being a plus.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and security lifecycle management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a strategic, data-driven decision-making approach.
