OUR LOCATION

Ingenium Aerospace is located in Rockford, Illinois, an hour west of Chicago. The Rockford region provides a great quality of life and is an attractive regional center for people to live, work, and play. With a population of over 150,000, Rockford is large enough to provide all the services, shopping, and dining options for daily life. It is a great place for singles, young couples, and those later in life as it provides many local recreational and cultural experiences, while also only a short drive from the amenities and options of Chicago, Madison, and Milwaukee. The Rockford region is also one of the most affordable housing markets in the U.S. per The Wall Street Journal, with a growing healthcare, aerospace, and logistics industries. 


OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Reliability Engineer is a challenging and critical position. This position is highly energetic requiring significant multi-tasking and exceptional communication skills across many aspects of the business. The Reliability Engineer are responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of aircraft, spacecraft, and their subsystems using statistical analysis, simulations, predictive, modeling, and other methods to forecast and improve reliability of the particular systems. 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Analyze the reliability of aerospace systems and components
  • Identify potential reliability issues and develop solutions
  • Perform Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), reliability predictions, fault tree analysis (FTA), and maintainability predictions. 
  • Develop and implement reliability test plans
  • Work with design and manufacturing teams to improve reliability
  • Identify root causes of failures and recommend changes
  • Document all reliability analysis and testing results
  • Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to enhance system reliability
  • Stay current with latest technologies and methodologies in reliability engineering
  • Perform reliability predictions and analysis based on industry standards and historical data.
  • Identify potential failure modes and develop preventative measures.
  • Investigate reliability-related incidents and determine root causes. 
  • Perform life cycle cost analyses and recommend design or process changes to reduce costs.
  • All other duties assigned by manager.


Requirements

MININUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent Degree.
  • Strong engineering background, with a focus on aerospace systems.
  • Strong understanding and ability to analyze the intricacies of aircraft design, construction, and function.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in reliability analysis methods and tools.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis with the ability to assess and predict reliability and risks of aerospace systems and components. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software.
  • Experience with RELEX and/or Windchill Software.
  • Proficient in using CAD software tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Detail oriented and ability to analyze complex aerospace systems and identify potential issues.
  • Familiar with reliability software and databases and how to use them to monitor and analyze aerospace systems.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards and practices in the aerospace industry to ensure compliance in all activities.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (ANSI Y14.5M).
  • Knowledge of certification/qualification testing per DO-160 or MIL-STD-810.
  • U.S. Citizen Only (No Dual Citizenship).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks Enterprise PDM is a plus.
  • Understanding AS9100 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Space Environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Land and Sea based systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of design for harsh environments is a plus.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Military & Commercial Aerospace design requirements is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace designing standards is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing design & manufacturing is a plus.

  • The candidate must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
