Job Description

Who We Are

Imprint is reimagining co-branded credit cards & financial products to be smarter, more rewarding, and truly brand-first. We partner with companies like H-E-B, Turkish Airlines, Brooks Brothers, and Eddie Bauer to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. Our platform combines advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and seamless UX to help brands offer powerful financial products—without becoming a bank.

Co-branded cards account for over $300 billion in U.S. annual spend—but most are still powered by legacy banks. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, tech-forward, and built for today’s consumer. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, and Khosla Ventures, we’re building a world-class team to redefine how people pay—and how brands grow. If you want to work fast, solve hard problems, and make a real impact, we’d love to meet you.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex, high-performance backend systems that scale with business growth

  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers through thoughtful code reviews, technical coaching, and strategic knowledge sharing

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product, design, and business stakeholders—to translate requirements into robust technical specifications and deliver high-impact solutions

  • Partner with leadership to cultivate and champion a diverse, inclusive, and innovative engineering culture

  • Work hand-in-hand with product and design teams to architect and deliver seamless, customer-centric experiences

  • Drive continuous optimization of system performance, scalability, and reliability to support rapid growth and evolving business demands

  • Proactively identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and strategic opportunities for architectural improvements

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and help set technical direction for backend engineering

  • Shape technical direction and contribute to key architectural decisions that influence the future of our platform

  • Champion engineering best practices and establish patterns that elevate code quality across the organization

What We Look For

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Go (our primary backend language), Java, Python, or similar languages

  • Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining microservices architectures and distributed systems at scale

  • Advanced system design capabilities with demonstrated expertise in performance optimization, horizontal scaling, and high-availability patterns

  • Proven track record delivering and maintaining mission-critical, 24x7 production systems with exceptional troubleshooting and incident response skills

  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed system architecture

  • Production experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and modern CI/CD practices using tools like GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar

  • Comprehensive knowledge of security best practices, compliance frameworks, and experience implementing secure-by-design architectures

  • Exceptional communication, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities

  • Strong sense of ownership, technical curiosity, and drive to deliver results in fast-paced environments

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Leading configured work computers of your choice

  • Flexible paid time off

  • Fully covered, high-quality healthcare, including fully covered dependent coverage

  • Additional health coverage includes access to One Medical and the option to enroll in an FSA

  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary caregiver and 8 weeks for all new parents

  • An understanding that successful hybrid work requires flexibility and an appreciation for asynchronous work

  • Access to industry-leading technology across all of our business units, stemming from our philosophy that we should invest in resources for our team that foster innovation, optimization, and productivity
