TAX ANALYST
The purpose of this position is to coordinate and assist with the timely completion of income tax returns and related activities, helping to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain Book accounting for taxes
- Provide quarterly estimates of the projected Effective Tax Rate and Cash Paid for Taxes
- Prepare monthly tax provision journal entries and present recommendations to the CFO and Executive Director – Accounting & Tax for approval.
- Complete account reconciliations for Current and Deferred Income Tax Accruals
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of estimated taxes
- Calculate required quarterly payments for federal and state taxes and present recommendations to senior leadership for approval
- Submit approved payments through government portals
- Coordinate with AP and Treasury to ensure proper recording in the GL
- Coordinate and assist with the completion of annual tax returns
- Serve as the primary liaison between Hydrite and third-party tax preparation firms
- Manage the process to help ensure the timely completion of PBC requests and filing of returns and extensions
- Coordinate the information gathering required for calculation of the R&D credit
- Prepare the annual UNICAP and Wisconsin Manufacturing Credit calculations
- Determine state apportionments
- Prepare and distribute documentation and payments related to Hydrite shareholders as instructed by senior leadership
- Maintain the tax basis and related depreciation and amortization of fixed assets, intangibles, and goodwill
- Prepare other returns and filings as needed, including gross receipts and excise taxes
- Track, monitor, and investigate tax notices received from states and the IRS
- Coordinate responses and document gathering for state income tax audits
- Collaborate on potential income tax credits and incentives related to sustainability and green energy initiatives
- Periodically review nexus and filing requirements
- Maintain the list of income tax related initiatives being pursued and make recommendations for additions to senior leadership.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports to the Executive Director of Accounting & Tax.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- Working knowledge of corporate income tax compliance is required, with at least 3 years of related work experience
- Proficiency in Power BI, Excel, Power Point, and Word
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate in English
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
