We are looking for a Buyer. The Buyer will coordinate the procurement and flow of materials, parts, and assemblies toward meeting materials requirements and production schedules by directing suppliers and shipping companies to ensure that materials arrive on delivery dates. Has the responsibility for purchasing approved inventory items, project components and raw materials, to meet project scheduling needs. Follow up with vendors to ensure schedules are met. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create Purchase Orders, obtain required signatures following Company Delegation of Authority and ISO purchase procedures and send through appropriate means to supplier. 
  • Obtain and verify vendor acknowledgements for accuracy; sign and date each acknowledgement and place in electronic job folder.
  • Follow up on, expedite and track components to ensure production schedules are met. 
  • Inform Purchase Order Requestor and Project Scheduler of expected delivery dates. 
  • File all documents pertaining to procurement both in electronic and hard copy in correct locations. 
  • Attend Production meetings as required.
  • Maintain effective communications with internal team members and vendors.
  • Ensure all PO Receivers are issued to the Shipping and Receiving Department within 48 hours.
  • Replenishes material, establishes delivery dates, and helps expedite materials to meet production schedules.
  • Communicates any supply problems to key internal stakeholders. 
  • Works to meet customer requirements; 100% on time delivery.
  • Manages inventory levels of materials required in our manufacture of crane systems, to meet company goals.
  • Acts as a primary contact with direct materials suppliers.  
  • Aids procurement team in monitoring supplier performance, pricing, and their CI efforts toward increased efficiencies and cost reduction in accordance with our customer performance demands.
  • Aids in Analyzing need for new suppliers and makes recommendations to Senior Buyer and Director.  
  • Aids the procurement team during the supplier selection and quoting process for new parts to ensure suppliers can meet program production and design requirements. 
  • Work with Senior Buyer for new vendor accounts and Terms.
  • Actively participate in the continual improvement of the company, safety compliance and following the Company’s Core Values, Vision, Quality Policy, Goals and Objectives.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote good company morale.
  • Works in a safe manner, following all safety policies and procedures while keeping in mind other’s safety as well.
  • Reports any accidents and potentially unsafe conditions or unsafe acts immediately to appropriate supervisor.
  • Other tasks or responsibilities that may be assigned by manager.

Education and Job Qualifications:


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Action oriented, time management, Customer focus, Integrity & trust while setting priorities, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to remain calm and focused with stressful situations.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Purchasing, Engineering or Business-related field; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment including computers, scanners, Internet, email, and copiers. 
  • Proficient with MS 365 software, Teams, SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of overhead cranes, preferred.

Language Skills:

Can read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills:

Can add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Internet software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, Word Processing software, and experience with ERP systems.


Other Skills and Abilities: 

Can handle multiple assignments at once and communicate effectively within all levels of the organization. Highly organized.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Must be able to sit at a desk or stand for prolonged periods of time,
  • In office and production area, must be able to traverse the production facility,
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

This is a permanent, full-time position.
