We have an immediate need for a full-time Medical Necessity Writer Specialist to join our Care Team.
The Medical Necessity Writer plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our patients receive the appropriate level of care and support. This position is responsible for researching and analyzing clinical data within the patient's medical records to support patient's initial level of home health care services, as well as writing for continuation of the same level of care or increased level of care, if medically necessary or appropriate, during the renewal cycle. This is a crucial role in obtaining approval without lapse of services for the prescribed level of care for our patients.
You'll be working with medical documentation preparation to include gathering patient records and evaluating those records for program qualifications. There is patient interaction to document history and status to establish direction for case management. Data management and system population are part of the job. This is a keep the projects moving position.
\n- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent reading, writing, and computer skills.
- Analytical
- Detail oriented and focused
- Experience with MS Office products and medical software
- Demonstrated success working independently and cohesively within a team setting
- Experience working in the medical field (Preferred)

- 1. Research and Analysis:
- a. Utilize your clinical expertise to thoroughly research and analyze the
- patient’s medical records, associated treatment plans for their
- covered conditions, and assessments.
- b. Research outside journal articles relating to the patient’s known
- covered diagnoses and exposures.
- 2. Letter Writing:
- a. Write clear, concise, and persuasive letters of medical necessity for all
- assigned patients’ home health care services and DME requests.
- b. Ensure to capture all relevant covered conditions.
- c. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to
- gather relevant information/coordinate necessary testing and ensure
- accuracy in your communications.
- 3. Renewals and Increases:
- a. Monitor patients’ progress and treatment plans to assess the need for
- renewals and/or increases in home health care services
- b. Think outside the box to connect why the continuation or increase in
- care is medically necessary
- c. Prepare and submit timely requests for renewals or increases,
- supported by updated letters of medical necessity and relevant
- documentation
- 4. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- a. Maintain meticulous records of your research findings,
- correspondence, and documentation related to patients’ home health
- care services.
