Description
Scope of Position: Responsible for the creative development and theming of displays, exhibits, and interior environments for clients and organizations, bringing their message to life in a given space – and helping clients to achieve specific experiential or environmental exhibit needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Approach projects strategically with an emphasis on out-of-the-box thinking and adding value.
- Provide unique, winning design solutions that are cost-efficient for our company and equitable for our clients.
- Collaborate with key team members in a fast-paced environment throughout the design process, initiate/facilitate internal meetings, and interact with clients as needed.
- Assist in the development of each project design schedule.
- Responsible for adhering to a design schedule and managing the project design phase from start to finish, meeting timelines, and working within established budgets.
- Produce design deliverables, including interpretive plans, schematic design plans, conceptual design documents and final design documents.
- Work directly with vendors and the Purchasing department to source materials, technologies, lighting, etc.
- Initiate/facilitate internal meetings with sales, estimating, and project management as required to develop design plan.
- Create estimate drawings for production quoting.
- Produce final renderings, material sample boards, and presentation packages.
- Supports internal departments throughout the production process.
- Attend domestic trade shows and industry events.
- Maintain a vast knowledge base of new materials, technologies, lighting, architecture, lightweight solutions, green solutions, arts & design, social media, entertainment, etc.
- Continually strive for excellence, challenge self and peers, and contribute to promoting a collaborative & inspiring work environment.
- Required abilities include hand-sketching, collaborative brainstorming, computer modeling/rendering, excellent verbal, written, and illustrative communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to integrate audience engagement strategies into architectural design solutions. This would include both physical touchpoints and technology integration.
- Periodic travel to clients’ facilities, trade shows and industry events, training, and other company locations.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Architecture or similar degree; or minimum three (3) years’ related experience and/or training in design discipline; At least two (2) years’ work experience and exposure in design discipline closely related to the exhibit and/or museum design industry, or completion of cooperative (internship) program at a college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
General Skills:
- Design Knowledge - Must understand interpretive planning principles. Must understand target audiences for the exhibit industry and/or museums. Must possess an understanding of color theory and have the ability to follow and understand past and current aesthetic, design styles, and design trends. Must understand the implications of space planning as well as have the skill to visualize and communicate concepts verbally.
- Computer Skills—The candidate must have computer exposure and basic working knowledge of the following software (either on MAC or PC): Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, Acrobat, PowerPoint, 3DS Max/Viz or Form Z, Dreamweaver, and Flash.
- Mathematical Skills - Possess ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, proportions, area, circumference, and volume, as well as apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Reasoning Ability - Possess ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands: No special skills are required; May sit for long periods of time and work at a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and depth perception.
