This role is based in Detroit, Michigan, and follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence two to three days per week.

Please note: Due to the in-office requirement, we will only be considering candidates that are local to the Metro Detroit area at this time.

Detroit Labs  is looking for an experienced Digital Content Manager to join an exciting engagement with an existing client focused on large-scale asset management and CMS optimization. This role will support the migration and organization of an extensive digital asset library and serve as a key contributor in the day-to-day operations and ongoing enhancement utilizing the Contentful CMS platform. The work centers around asset tagging, metadata structuring, and DAM to CMS migration efforts, all aimed at enabling scalable, well-structured content delivery across platforms. This role has options to contract or work full time through our Staffing team.

    • 3–5 years of experience in a content management or digital operations role, with a strong focus on CMS platforms
    • Hands-on experience with Contentful or other comparable CMS platforms is required
    • Experience with digital asset management (DAM) systems and content migration, including CMS to DAM migrations
    • Strong understanding of content architecture, metadata tagging, asset organization, and publishing workflows within a CMS
    • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, especially with content managers, production teams, and other cross-functional partners
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
    • Comfortable managing and migrating large-scale asset libraries (e.g., 130,000+ assets), with a focus on accuracy and process integrity
    • Familiarity with API-based content integrations and basic scripting languages such as Python is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

    • Own the day-to-day management and optimization of the Contentful CMS, including content population, structuring, tagging, and publishing
    • Collaborate closely with content managers and production teams to support content delivery workflows
    • Act as a key contributor in the ongoing migration of digital assets, ensuring clean integration with Contentful
    • Provide post-launch support as a key stakeholder in CMS/DAM integration, helping ensure successful performance, functionality, and team adoption
    • Support downstream content operations, enabling efficient management and publishing of multimedia content in a structured CMS environment
    • Contribute to the development of content management best practices, including governance, version control, and lifecycle planning
    • Identify and drive process improvements related to asset handling, metadata structuring, and CMS efficiency
    • Provide additional support for DAM migration activities or light technical assistance, where relevant
  • The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience. Hourly options are available as well.
