The Associate Director, Strategic Finance will support overall corporate strategy, including leading the long-range planning process (LRP), partnering with program leadership to provide financial analysis in support of portfolio decision making, and owning all other long-term financial analyses. In addition, the Associate Director, Strategic Finance will support business development and licensing efforts on an ad hoc basis, including collaborating with the business development team and other cross-functional team members on analysis for potential deals.
This position will report to the Senior Director, Head of FP&A and Strategic Finance and work on-site at our Waltham, MA office. Deciphera expects a minimum number of three days a week on site, with flexibility as to hours on site on any given day to accommodate work/life balance. Specific days and times spent in the office should be determined in conjunction with your manager.
What You’ll Do:
- Own and lead the process for the development of the company’s long-range plan.
- Partner with program leadership, new product planning, commercial insights & operations, finance and other stakeholders to harmonize strategic financial planning across the portfolio with a goal of streamlining and enhancing stakeholder experience.
- Lead efforts to build the company wide capability to evaluate return on investment and asset prioritization as we near and achieve profitability.
- Develop and articulate medium- to long-term financial plans to ensure adequate resources to accomplish corporate goals.
- Support business development and licensing initiatives by collaborating with the Deciphera business development team, ONO (parent company) business development team, and other cross-functional leaders on strategic analysis to support decision making impacting Deciphera.
- Collaborate with key Deciphera stakeholders, ONO Finance, and external auditors to complete annual audit of long-range plan.
- Lead/support ad hoc internal initiatives in response to opportunities, threats and/or business needs in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders; develop framework and hypotheses, lead assessment, and propose recommendations.
- Support portfolio management efforts related to the valuation of assets.
- Identify and lead special projects and analysis that provide a strategic, financial, and analytical approach to decision making. Advocate for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and deliver key analysis and presentations to leadership.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience in a global biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.
- Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical business including drug development and commercialization.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing “right-sized” processes.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including ability to develop strategic frameworks to facilitate decision making around complex opportunities.
- Flexibility and ability to leverage ad hoc financial opportunities and innovative thinking to adapt to rapidly evolving situations and fulfill challenging timelines.
- Strong analytical & financial modeling skills (product forecasts, P&L, NPV models, etc.).
- Experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams, and ability to deliver on project timelines, progress, and outcomes in small company environments.
- Excellent communications skills, in writing and orally, including presentation to senior executives.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
