Develops, directs, and oversees the business development, marketing, sales and pricing activities and functions for the Cleveland Wheel & Brake Systems (CWBS) business unit. The role includes lead generation and prospecting for OEM and Aftermarket business growth and will drive the establishment of new strategic business customer relations and opportunities that result in profitable growth. The role includes conducting senior level sales presentations, proposal management and negotiations necessary to close deals successfully. Additionally, this key leadership role will work closely with engineering, program management, contracts, and finance. Additionally, close coordination with the Chief Commercial Officer to assure overall strategic growth alignment objectives. The role will report directly to the CWBS president.

Role, Authority and Accountability
As a member of the leadership team, is responsible and accountable for the direction of business development, marketing, sales, and pricing and assures optimization and execution of the growth strategy. Specifically, the role will include lead generation and profitably selling highly engineered products aligned with CWBS’s goals. Further, the individual will be responsible for establishing competitor analysis (SWOT), data and comparative analysis as well as pricing and margin analysis per established parameters and objectives. The role will determine optimal and global sales channels and assure leverage of products and overall value proposition for customer and business success. Additionally, the creation and implementation of marketing material and content, in all media forms (ex: print, website, tradeshows, etc.), will be under the direction of this position. If necessary and determined, the role will oversee directly or indirectly any sales representation and establish sales quotas, and accordingly will track and manage performance against such quotas and expectations. The individual will work closely with contracts, engineering (NPI), operations, supply chain and finance in the development of sales forecasts and strategic planning.
The position will oversee, direct, and assure that team members within their authority are performing at exceptional levels of both execution of sales growth initiatives and conduct. The role includes and is responsible for team member(s) actions including performance management, development, hiring, and termination. The roles will have direct reports responsible for Sales, Marketing/Trade Shows, Business Development and Pricing. Under the leadership of this position will be the assurance that subordinate managers or supervisors also provide appropriate supervision to individual contributors. This key position will serve in a significant role relative to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the business unit in collaboration with senior management. Reviews and/or establishes departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization that assure optimal departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
Job Qualifications
- The position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) and a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience that exemplify a record of exceptional results and leadership attributes.
- Experience in aerospace and defense, with preference given to general aviation, along with current OEM and Aftermarket relations is highly desired.
- Executive level sales experience is required.
- A strong technical background is highly preferred.
- Past general aviation and piloting would be a plus.
- A thorough and keen understanding of strategic, opportunistic, and executive selling along with strong business and financial acumen is necessary.
- The ability to direct and analyze competitor information (value proposition, product characteristics and pricing) while creating and executing a compelling capture plan in concert within the overall growth and win strategy is critical.
