Callidus is the most advanced legal generative AI platform on the market today. We offer a uniquely powerful platform, enabling lawyers (as one example) to draft a full 30‑page legal brief in ~10 minutes—saving about a week of effort.
We recently closed a funding round led by Cervin Ventures with participation from Tandem, Foley (a global law firm), Myriad, and Andrew Ng’s AI Fund. More than 1,000 paying lawyers rely on Callidus today, and ARR is growing >20% MoM, putting us in the top 1% of funded startups at this level. We’re ready to scale and are looking to triple the size of our team.

Your Role
We’re searching for a designer who:
- Turns frontier AI into intuitive lawyer workflows—reducing cognitive load & driving elegance and consistency across our platform.
- Treats craft and speed as inseparable. Rapidly prototype, user-test, polish, and ship.
- Owns the end-to-end design stack: research → IA → wireframes → hi-fi → design QA.
- Helps us rethink onboarding, training, and our “prosumer” sales funnel.
- Wants to go “all-in” on a high-growth startup and thrives in ambiguous, 0 → 1 environments
Seniority Level
Senior, Staff, or Principal level designer. Great relevant experience is more important than high seniority.
You will report to the CEO.
What We’re Looking For
Core Requirements
- 3+ years designing SaaS or workflow products (portfolio required).
- Proven record of shipping data-dense or professional-grade tools and improving a key metric (conversion, NPS, retention).
- Experience designing generative AI workflows and strong knowledge of the tools and how they fit with workflows.
- Expertise in Figma (auto-layout, variants, prototyping) and one other prototyping tool.
- Comfort running user research and turning findings into IA and interaction patterns.
- Basic grasp of front-end constraints (React components, CSS, accessibility).
- Ability to commute to our Dallas office 4–5 days/week.

- Ownership mindset: you do what you say and surface risks early.
- Ability to work well with ambiguity and low amounts of process.
- Excellent problem solving capabilities.
Passion & Dedication
- Genuine excitement for AI and building category‑defining products.
- Fantastic work ethic & ability to take on a very demanding role (similar culture to xAI, Amazon, Figure, etc.).
Nice‑to‑Haves
- LegalTech experience / understanding of legal workflows.
- An interest in running tests but a great eye for likely outcomes.
- Deep understanding of generative AI from an engineering perspective.
- Personal use of AI tooling (Cursor, CoPilot, ChatGPT, etc.).
- Motion design chops (Lottie / After Effects) or ability to contribute to front-end code.
- Engineering degree.
Interview Process (fast!)
- 30 min culture & logistics screen with Head of Ops
- Potentially a 30-minute session with a developer
- 45 minute session with CEO (problem-solving + values)
- 4-hour take-home sample work exercise or submission of prior work
- 30 minute session with CTO (culture + technical discussion)
We move very quickly for the right candidate.
Location
- US‑based required.
- Dallas, TX strongly preferred. Will also consider "unicorn candidates" in McKinney, TX, Austin, TX, and San Francisco, CA.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $120,000 - $180,000
