Job Summary of the Sr. Product Manager
As a Sr. Product Manager, you will be responsible for all marketing-related aspects of the products within the assigned product portfolio and play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the assigned product portfolio. This includes developing and implementing effective marketing strategies and tactics to ensure that products in the assigned portfolio achieve revenue and operating profit targets. Keys to success for the Senior Product Manager will be the ability to build successful partnerships with the sales force, develop relationships with key opinion leaders and to modify strategies and tactics when necessary based on voice of customer and emerging trends. This role may be responsible for both downstream and upstream activities. Responsibilities include traditional marketing deliverables such as business plans, pricing, product positioning, promotional strategies, life cycle plans and advising on product improvements and new product needs. Downstream activities include product launches, sales training & education, developing go to market strategies and generally building and executing product commercialization plans. Leveraging your deep market expertise, leadership capabilities, and product management acumen, you will drive impactful strategies and ensure sustained success throughout the product lifecycle. This position reports to the Director, Downstream Marketing.
Requirements of the Sr. Product Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
- Master’s Degree (MBA) or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of proven success in product management or marketing, with a strong focus in the medical device, surgical implant, or biotech/pharma industries. Experience developing and launching new technologies in the medical field is a plus.
- Experience building and managing strong brands, from positioning to messaging and go-to-market strategy.
- Experience designing and executing market research, using insights to drive product development and marketing strategy.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
- Experience expanding products into new clinical markets or surgical applications is highly preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, managing multiple priorities with a focus on delivering measurable results.
- Ability to travel domestically, up to 35% of the time.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver integrated marketing communication programs.
- Ability to use metrics and dashboards to measure performance and optimize market adoption.
- Proficient in key marketing competencies such as Strategy Development, Portfolio & Lifecycle Management, Value Proposition Development, and Pricing Research.
Responsibilities of the Sr. Product Manager
The specific duties of the Sr. Product Manager include but are not limited to:
Brand Strategy & Planning

- Serve as the internal champion for one or more Axogen brands, defining brand strategy, positioning, and long-term market vision to drive sustainable growth.
- Lead the development of annual marketing/brand plans for designated product portfolio supported by market and customer insights ensuring strategies align with business objectives and market needs.
- Ensure new product launch plans are developed and executed to maximize revenue and profit impact.
- Develop pricing strategies and business models that align with market dynamics and financial goals.
- Secure alignment with the supply chain team on supply and inventory strategies. Prepare and partner with demand planning for regular product forecasts based on customer information and market analysis.
- Conduct in-depth market and customer research and competitive landscape analyses, using customer insights and industry trends to identify unmet needs, emerging trends and growth opportunities as well as inform strategic decision-making.
Product Lifecycle Management

- Oversee the complete product lifecycle, from concept and development through launch and post-market optimization, ensuring continuous product innovation and relevance.
- Partner with RA/QA to gather insight from Post-Market Surveillance to monitoring and analyzing product performance in the real world to identifies areas for product design or manufacturing improvements.
- Ensure product claims table is updated and maintained to incorporate the latest clinical and health economic evidence.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all Axogen Quality Systems requirements.
- Fully adhere to all applicable FDA regulations, international guidelines and Axogen’s policies at all times.
Marketing Programs & Promotion

- Collaborate with Marketing Communications on projects including content strategy, sales collateral and educational resources to execute broader initiatives.
- Partner with internal cross-functional teams to create content and messaging for promotions through various distribution channels (email, tradeshows and digital media).
- Effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful execution of product strategies and market initiatives
Sales Enablement

- Routinely communicate with the sales force regarding product updates and availability, competitive activity, sales positioning, best practices, and new product development updates.
- Providing training to sales teams on product features, benefits, and competitive advantages
- Develop and expand clinical and technical knowledge necessary for product line management and customer interaction as the procedural subject matter expert.
- Partner with sales, market development, and other departments to ensure seamless execution of the launch excellence plan, robust sales support, and increased market penetration and adoption.
Innovation & Process Improvement

- Contribute to new product development initiatives by identifying market opportunities, guiding product innovations that will enhance the performance of the product line and maximize the growth.
- Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, including feature prioritization and new product launch plans.
- Contribute to the definition of marketing requirements by translating clinical and customer needs into detailed product specifications and be a product champion through the development process.
- Foster strong cross-functional partnerships across sales, marketing, R&D, commercial excellence, and regulatory teams to align product goals, timelines, and deliverables.
