How will you make an impact in this role?

The U.S. Consumer Services Team is responsible for our suite of consumer products, services, and experiences in the U.S., including our premium, cobrand, cash back, and lending portfolios, Membership Rewards, Global Travel & Lifestyle Services, the Centurion Lounge network, our Global Dining and Resy businesses, and best-in-class marketing programs across customer, prospect, and partner channels. The USCS team is focused on making membership an indisputable competitive advantage and helping each other become better leaders every day.  

Resy and Tock are the American Express global dining platforms and sits within the USCS organization. Our mission is to connect the world's best restaurants with the world's best customers through a trusted and innovative global SaaS platform, built on the promise of access and unforgettable experiences.   

Resy and Tock’s SaaS platforms offer a wide range of features and functionality, managing reservations and tables, and tracking guest and restaurant data to help restaurants deliver the best hospitality to diners. Diners can discover the amazing world of restaurants thanks to our content-rich website and innovative mobile app. 

We’re looking for a Director, Marketing Design to lead brand design and creative for American Express Global Dining, including Tock and Resy—two of the most dynamic platforms in the dining and hospitality space.

As Director, Marketing Design you’ll be the steward of our collective brand identity and the driver of world-class creative expression across every channel and customer experience. You’ll lead a passionate team of designers, art directors, writers, and developers, working closely with marketing, product, and executive leadership to evolve our brand, launch campaigns, and shape how our platforms show up in the world.

This is a rare opportunity to define the visual and narrative identity of two industry-defining brands under one global umbrella. You’ll have the chance to lead from strategy through execution, guiding everything from high-impact campaigns and brand design systems to UX, video, content, and communications. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Brand Vision & Identity
    • Lead the evolution and expression of the Tock and Resy brands within American Express Global Dining.
    • Define and refine brand guidelines, visual identity systems, tone, and creative standards.
    • Ensure brand consistency across all customer touchpoints—digital, experiential, editorial, and internal. 
  • Creative Strategy
    • Collaborate with marketing, communications, and product teams to develop strategic creative approaches rooted in insights and aligned with business goals.
    • Advocate for the role of design and storytelling in achieving strategic impact and differentiation.
    • Translate complex briefs into inspiring, focused creative direction. 
  • Campaign & Creative Execution
    • Lead the end-to-end creative development of brand and marketing campaigns, from concept through execution.
    • Collaborate closely with marketing, comms, product teams along with external partners to bring integrated campaigns to life across digital, experiential, and physical channels.
    • Ensure all campaign work aligns with strategic goals, upholds creative excellence, and reinforces a unified brand presence.
    • Oversee creative execution across performance marketing, lifecycle, partnerships, and brand moments—ensuring ideas scale effectively across formats and platforms. 
  • Website & Product Design Oversight
    • Guide the brand experience across our marketing sites and B2B platforms.
    • Collaborate with UX, content, and development teams to ensure a cohesive, user-centered design approach that reflects our brand values. 
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Manage and mentor a growing team of brand and visual designers.
    • Foster a culture of experimentation, feedback, curiosity, and creative excellence.
    • Engage and manage external agencies, freelancers, and production partners as needed. 
  • Internal & Executive Communications 
    • Provide creative direction and design support for internal and corporate-facing initiatives, including executive presentations and internal brand education. 
    • Work cross-functionally to ensure brand storytelling is clear and consistent across teams and functions. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in creative or brand design, including at least 5 years in a leadership role at a high-growth or design-forward company. 
  • A strategic thinker with a strong portfolio that demonstrates brand identity, storytelling, campaign work, and digital experiences. 
  • Deep experience shaping and scaling brand design systems across channels and teams. 
  • Strong creative instincts, with an exceptional eye for design, craft, and storytelling. 
  • Experience leading cross-functional creative work that blends strategy, design, UX, and content. 
  • Strong communicator who can present and articulate creative direction to executive leadership, marketing, and product teams. 
  • Proven success mentoring and growing creative teams and collaborating with external partners. 
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments—able to zoom out on vision and zoom in on execution. 
  • Expertise in modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and working knowledge of digital production workflows. 
  • Passion for the hospitality industry, design, storytelling, and creating meaningful cultural moments. 

 

 

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
