Job Description

A great new opportunity has arisen to join our European Legal team, we are looking to hire a new colleague as Senior Legal Counsel working on a wide and diverse client portfolio across Continental Europe but focused mainly on Belgium, the Netherlands and France. It is a part-time position (15–25 hours/week) with flexible scheduling.

This role will give exposure to a wide range of challenging projects and contracts. As a key business partner, you will be actively involved in bid preparation, bid and contract negotiation, project support, potential claims and implementation of the Group’s internal policies.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of business agreements, contracts, and other legal documentation (including client contracts, bid agreements, joint venture agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and sub-consultancy agreements);
  • Claims management, internal reporting, and coordination with external counsel;
  • Company secretarial functions, convening and providing administration for board of directors and shareholders meetings ensuring good management of the company and compliance with legislation; and
  • Ensuring the application of the Group's internal policies (Ethics & Compliance, ED&I, ESG, and Data Protection).

Qualifications

We are seeking an aspiring legal counsel who has proficiency level in English, French and ideally Dutch and is passionate about building relationships with key stakeholders and adept at providing commercial, results-oriented legal advice.

The main requirements:

  • Degree in Law.
  • We are looking for candidates with 5 to 7 years post qualification experience in order to satisfy the requirements of the role, but all applicants with suitable experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in English and French is essential. Dutch will be positively valued.
  • Previous experience in the construction, infrastructure or engineering department of a law firm or construction, infrastructure or engineering international company.
  • Contract review and negotiation experience, preferably within the construction, infrastructure or energy sector.
  • Proficient MS Office Programs user.
  • The role requires excellent communication and organizational skills and a pro-active approach, you should feel confident in this aspect as your role will involve daily interaction with senior level executives as well as colleagues at all-levels across the Group.
  • For an excellent performance in the role, it is needed to be able to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to partnering with executives, operations and other colleagues across all levels of the business in a global organization.
  • Be curious to explore and adopt innovative working methods in the pursuit of continuous improvement.
