Job Description

The Global Supply Planning (GSP) manager’s role is to manage people, processes and systems for their team’s brands, as well as the planning, frameworks, sales and operations planning (S&OP), and sales and operations execution (S&OE). Responsible for the successful execution of planning processes that balance demand and supply resources and align plans to business objectives. Enables business leaders to make decisions that help realign execution with strategy in an ever-changing environment. Supports the organization to make better decisions and balance service, cost, inventory, sustainability, and risk. The GSP manager develops and maintains professional relationships with other functions, such as manufacturing, logistics, procurement, external contract manufacturing, commercial and finance to reconcile top-down financial plans with the bottom-up operational plans. This role involves developing team members by empowering them to excel and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a small team comprised of short-term, and/or end-to-end planners responsible for GSP for AbbVie brands. Builds positive culture and develops team members while overseeing the department. Monitors team workload, guides and coaches team through complex work issues, and answers questions. Interviews, hires, and recommends salary adjustments for team members, as needed. Collaborates with team members to establish performance goals, conducts performance reviews and provides feedback.
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership for the supply planning activities of
    designated products / brands within the pharmaceutical supply chain based on
    interpretation of demand requirements. Supervision of supply planning activities to maintain full product availability and to meet strategic and financial goals through a 24-month horizon.
  • Own Supply Chain Planning activities to maintain required product availability and to meet
    strategic and financial needs of each product or brand whether manufactured within AbbVie or at Third Party manufacturers (TPMs).
  • Achievement of key performance indicators for customer service/on time delivery, back order, on-time supply of product from manufacturing sources, backorder, excess and obsolescence, inventory health, hedging, and plan stability at sources.
  • Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
  • Serve as the point-person for escalation of portfolio and risk-related issues. Work with business unit leadership to align on consensus supply plans and final S&OP plans.
  • Leading/contributing to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives.
  • Supporting the annual and strategic planning and direction setting for the planning teams and supply chain function.
  • Influence and collaborate with key partners in operations, finance and commercial to address input gaps as identified by forecast error, bias and volatility, supplier performance, supply constraints, and other means. • Influence and collaborate with key partners in operations, finance and commercial to address input gaps as identified by forecast error, bias and volatility, supplier performance, supply constraints, and other means.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors required, Master level preferred in Operations, Supply Chain or Business Management.
  • MBA or APICS certification - desired
  • 8 years’ experience in Operations, Supply Chain Management and/ or Financial Management with people management experience
  • Hands-on experience applying lean manufacturing, 6-Sigma, and advanced planning and control
    methods
  • Excellent leadership and people management/development skills are required
  • Proven capability to manage and implement change management programs
  • Ability to interact successfully in a divers global environment and with senior level
    management to effectively influence and manage change
  • Must have excellent communication skills
